The Daily Grind: Are there MMOs you watch but don’t play?

This big reveal worked out super great.

I’ve seen a few folks in our comments and Reddit lately mention that they like MMOs – but that they’re more interested in watching MMOs than playing them. I genuinely understand this when it comes to some non-MMO titles, or when the streamer is more entertaining than the game. But for the most part, I don’t find watching MMOs all that fun. There’s probably a bunch of reasons for it, like many MMOs being constructed around mundane activities or grinding. Mostly, though, I just play MMOs to play them, to experience them personally. Watching someone else play for entertainment purposes just doesn’t appeal to me, even if I’d watch for informational reasons.

How about you – are there MMOs you watch on YouTube or Twitch but don’t actually play?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
