The Daily Grind: What sort of monster do you love to kill in an MMO?

Vengeance.

We’ve made jokes before about how MMORPGs have certain predictable elements in their bestiaries. After all, most games feature the really cute thing (or things) you’d prefer not to fight, the legless blob, the dragon thing, and so forth. But there’s also always one sort of enemy you love to kill. Whether it’s due to constant irritation from fighting the enemy type, lore that indicates something making this enemy particularly noxious, or just personal quirks you can’t explain, there is always something that always brings you joy to hunt down and pop whenever needed.

Heck, sometimes it’s just down to a vendetta; after having plenty of opportunities to be afraid of Goblins in Final Fantasy XI, I always took particular bliss in making sure that a given goblin fell on my own weaponry. So what sort of monster do you love to kill in an MMO? What particular enemies are you just always happy to take out, even if you recognize it’s kind of silly?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
