The Daily Grind: When was the last time you slowed down to enjoy your MMO?

It hasn’t escaped my attention that, in MMOs, speed is everything. If we’re not running somewhere, we’re sprinting. If we’re not sprinting, we’re on rocket-powered mounts breaking Mach 7. The faster we can get to our objectives, the faster we can Get Stuff Done and Make Progress.

And while I do appreciate convenient transportation, I also find great merit in slowing down. I’m not talking about figuring out where the “walk” toggle is, but rather pausing now and then to take in the scenery, socialize with friends, or investigate an interesting locale. Not everything in MMOs has to be about loot and XP, after all.

When was the last time you slowed down to enjoy your MMO — and what did you discover?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
