The Daily Grind: Are you a gamer or an MMO gamer?

Bear with the headline question for a sec because I’m going somewhere with this. I realize that by definition, MMO gamers are gamers. But that’s not what I’m getting at.

See, I spend the vast majority of my gaming time playing MMOs, not other games. It’s not as if I never play anything else, and I do have my favorite single-player titles (just you see if you can pry the Elder Scrolls franchise off my hard drive). But MMOs are where most of my time, money, and passion goes, and not just because I work at an MMO site. I was like this before too!

And so I tend to think of myself as an MMO gamer rather than as a generic gamer. I don’t just buy whatever the current fad game in the broader industry is. I often ignore it altogether unless it’s relevant to MMOs.

How about you – are you a gamer or an MMO gamer?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
