EVE Online sees another large-scale battle erupt at X47L-Q, causing the server to groan under the strain

Over 4,000 pilots of EVE Online woke up and chose violence: Early this morning on our side of the globe, a mass of players from the Imperium and B2 alliances butted heads in X47L-Q once again – the same battlefield that saw over 6,000 players duke it out a few weeks prior.

A battle report from the fight shows that just over 2,000 kills were made in the fight at the time of this writing, with over 700B ISK worth of in-game hardware lost to the internet space winds. And those numbers will likely keep climbing.

Plans for this fight were being shared late last night, while the actual execution appears to have been marred by a not-insignificant number of server issues; many replies to CCP’s tweet point out that guns were refusing to cycle correctly. Meanwhile, the fan-run Imperium News Network has been sharing live coverage of the battle.

Speaking of fan-run things, players are being pointed at in the direction of an in-person meetup in New Orleans between April 21st and 23rd. The event is being held at the Crowne Plaza New Orleans French Quarter and promises events like a crawfish boil, brunch, and a jazz cruise on a riverboat, though some of these activities will require a separate ticket purchase on top. Ideally, people will enjoy the jazz and the crawfish and not bring interstellar politics to the party. There’s jazz and crawfish on tap, people.
