We have the Lord of the Rings Online general chat to thank for inspiring this Daily Grind, as I recently saw one player make a good argument for why we ought to consider LOTRO something of a cozy MMO, even though it wasn’t designed or marketed that way at all and came out long before the sub-genre formed up into something with a distinct shape. (The Yeoman profession, for those who don’t know, was a crafting trio that as originally designed included cooking and farming.)
So naturally we gotta talk about this. First, do you think it’s fair to call LOTRO a cozy MMO? And second, what other MMOs deserve the designation – what’s the coziest MMO that isn’t technically a cozy MMO?
Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
