APB Reloaded launches holiday events, adds a new vehicle, and checks in with matchmaking progress

Ever since Little Orbit CEO Matt Scott appeared online with news about the long-dormant Fallen Earth, it got us to thinking about the studio’s other MMOs – namely the multiplayer crime shooter APB Reloaded. So let’s take a look, shall we?

First off, the most recent patch has brought back The Beacon and its three holiday events, which let players get three titles and a bunch of joker tickets between now and January 10th; otherwise this update has made some vehicle adjustments and kicked off a cash shop sale. Speaking of vehicles, there’s a a new one in-game known as the Mirage, a speedy four-door all-wheel drive sportster that promises nimble handling and impressive acceleration. Vroom vroom.

Finally, we look to mid-November, when Scott posted an honest end-of-year update in which he candidly talked about the challenges he’s faced on both a personal and professional level, promised to host more Twitch Q&As about APB and other Little Orbit games (which is likely why the earlier mentioned Fallen Earth news sprang from), and confirmed that matchmaking improvements have cleared a “Step 1” phase that involved moving matchmaking logic from one server to the other, though that’s much more technical than that sentence would lead you to believe.
