Next year is fixing to be a pretty significant one for Astroneer if the 2024 roadmap shared by System Era is anything to go by, which is being called the Year of the Glitch and promises a post-Awakening changing world.
The roadmap lines up four major content patches over the course of next year, starting off with an anniversary update for January, two content updates for the spring and summer seasons respectively, and an expansion scheduled to arrive sometime in the fall and winter.
Naturally, details on this expansion are slim, but the roadmap post does explain that things are building up to a narrative mystery, and the studio promises to continue to be transparent and that this expansion is “a big jump forward.” Meanwhile, the spring and summer updates are going to be smaller in comparison, as the devs are going to be putting in a lot of work for this big year-end expansion.
In between it all will be refreshes for the game’s limited-time events with balance passes, new rewards, and some alterations, while the anniversary event set for January promises to be all-new. Details will likely unfurl in the coming weeks, but for now fans of this survivalbox should prepare for glitchy surprises. The wanted glitchy surprises, ideally.
