The Daily Grind: What’s the key thought that keeps you from returning to MMOs?

In my decades of playing and writing about MMORPGs, there’s one thing I’ve found to be incredibly true: There is no such thing as a perfect MMO. Every title has its flaws, some of which are crippling or personally off-putting. The question is, can you stomach those flaws to enjoy the rest of the game?

For me, it’s sometimes yes and sometimes no, especially when I consider returning to previous titles. I know their warts quite well and have to factor those in my decision. There have been plenty of times I get jazzed to come back to a game, only to remember, “Oh, it has that” and my enthusiasm is completely dashed.

Are there any factors like that for you? What’s the one thought that keeps you from returning to an MMO you used to enjoy a lot?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
