The Daily Grind: How far do you think Tarisland will go in today’s MMO climate?

There are certainly a lot of developing MMO projects to keep tabs on these days, but one that stands out to me as a potential strong contender is Tarisland. I initially wrote this off as yet another lame World of Warcraft clone, but positive reports from testing, a good amount of studio promotion, and what appears to be some serious production values is starting to change my mind. This could really be something.

Then again, maybe not. MMOs aren’t released in a vacuum, and when Tarisland emerges, it’s going to have to be more than a slick game-of-the-week to go the distance. Considering the current genre climate, including the mess that Blizzard made of its Chinese presence, how far do you think Tarisland will go? Will this be a flash in the pan, a sleeper hit, or a tall drink of water for thirst-starved gamers?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
