Netmarble (not Nexon) is working on a new Game of Thrones MMO

Update: Wccftech is reporting that the original source conflated Nexon and Netmarble; there is still a Game of Thrones MMO coming, but it’s apparently a Netmarble mobile game. So get excited, just for different reasons? The original article follows.

Is there any gas left in that great Game of Thrones engine? Nexon is hoping so, because it’s ramping up development on an MMO set in George RR Martin’s fantasy world.

We got word this week that this project is underway at the MMO company, although this has not been officially confirmed by Nexon itself. Reportedly, this game will be set in the middle of the books’ timeline and take place in the northern part of the country, including Winterfell and The Wall.

This is a yet another effort to bring Game of Thrones to the MMO space, with Seven Kingdoms quietly put to bed several years back. Currently, there is no title or release window for this new project, nor do we know whether it will be a full-scale traditional MMORPG or some sort of trimmed-down multiplayer venture. What do you think – is there any faith or interest in a fully realized Game of Thrones MMO?
