New World’s latest community events feature XP boosts, hardware giveaways, and free canopic jars

New World is continuing to throw as many smoke bombs as it can in order to pad the time between now and when it makes its big June announcement, as the third week of its Community Convergence event is now underway — and promises to be the biggest one yet.

Part of what makes this third week such a big deal is a contest to win $500 worth of Logitech PC hardware; interested players who live in the US simply have to take a screenshot of their favorite place in Aeternum and share them on various social media for a chance at the prize bundle.

Would you rather have a decorative jar that might have been used to store mummy organs as a housing item instead? Then you’re in luck because between now and June 3rd, players can snag themselves not one but two canopic jar housing items. That’s two horrifying tchotchkes for the price of nothing!

Other in-game affairs include a player-run costume contest happening on June 1st, XP bonuses to several progression tracks between now and June 3rd, and some cash shop sales for players to take advantage of. Whether this is indeed a community celebration or a bit of bread and circus is up to personal interpretation, but these are things happening now regardless.
