The Daily Grind: What was an MMO system you liked better in the beta?

You let me down, man.

More often than not, the beta defense is deployed for MMOs when they’re in testing to defend janky and unpleasant systems. Sometimes, this is because the systems in question are legitimately still placeholders and not remotely finished, and sometimes it’s because fans of the game have elected themselves the defense squad for a retail product put out by a large company and will shout down people who dare to say “this system is bad” until the game launches and everyone agrees “this system is bad.” (This is also known as “Blizzard testing.”)

But every so often a game has a system that is either acceptable or downright good in the beta but doesn’t make it through to launch unaffected. Sometimes the game was generally better in testing and subsequent changes did make things a little worse. So when have you found an MMO system in a beta that you like but that actually got worse upon the full release?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
