WRUP: Things I do and do not remember without the internet edition

This is Rick Astley

Things I do not remember: How to operate a car. How babby is formed. When Grover Cleveland was president. My mother’s birthday. Whether or not a cat bite is serious. The correct order of bosses in a Mega Man game. What robot series I like (I believe it is Form-morphers but don’t quote me). Whether I did this What Are You Playing joke before. Whether anyone properly jailed The Black Eyed Peas for releasing “My Humps” in 2005. What the laws are regarding a citizen’s arrest. The home addresses of The Black Eyed Peas. How formidable the security is at those home addresses. How likely it is for a citizen’s arrest to be upheld for releasing a terrible song. Whether or not Honda ever released a vehicle called the “Happy Buggy.” Why I can remember so many song lyrics.

Things I do remember: We’re no strangers to love. You know the rules, and so do I. A full commitment’s what I’m thinking of – you wouldn’t get this from any other guy. I just… want to tell you how I’m feeling; I’ve got to make you understand that I’m never going to give you up, never going to let you down, never going to run around and desert you. Never going to make you cry, never going to say goodbye, never going to tell a lie and hurt you. We’ve known each other for so long… your heart’s been aching, but you’re too shy to say it. Say it. Inside, we both know what’s been going on – we know the game, and we’re going to play it. And if you ask me how I’m feeling? Don’t tell me you’re too blind to see that I’m never going to give you up, never going to let you down, never going to run around and desert you. Never going to make you cry, never going to say goodbye, never going to tell a lie and hurt you. The horse is a noble animal.

Bonus question: What was the most recent MMO project you finished?

Andrew Ross (@dengarsw): It’s going to be puppy’s first community day, so I’m nothing excited for her and dreading it for myself, as I’m never sure which of her various breeds will kick in. Will she have the energy to walk for a hour or so, or will her big lazy self force me to carry her until I get to the car? Wish us both luck!

Outside of work MMO stuff, I think my last MMO project was maxing out my Perfect Pinsir maybe two months ago. Niantic rains Scyther down on everyone, but I realized Pinsir rarely comes out, so I had to walk it quite a bit. At least Pokemon Go goals often overlap with my goal to keep the pounds off!

Brianna Royce (@nbrianna, blog): I’m hoping to at least toy with Tarisland this weekend, but we’ll see. My kids just got back from a trip, I’m prepping for another trip, we’re in the middle of building a closet in our bedroom and everything is covered in plaster (ug), and I’m just super busy right now.

“Project” is a hard word. I think the absolute most recent that wasn’t for work was building my popmenus for City of Heroes. A few weeks ago I did one for my Ninjas Mastermind to complement the rest. Before that, definitely setting up my Bespin apartment and droid engineering station in Star Wars Galaxies Legends. That was a huge project and I enjoyed the hell out of it, though it wasn’t enough to lock me back into orbit there.

Chris Neal (@wolfyseyes, blog): I’ve pretty much got all of my duckies lined up for Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail, so now it’s the hurry up and wait game… which mostly involves playing other games. Namely, more The Elder Scrolls Online (I finally got my first-ever level 50), some peeks into Tarisland, and a bit of continued prodding at Pax Dei. If it looks like I’m trying desperately to distract myself until next week, you’re right.

I think something that would be considered a project in the wider parlance of MMO gaming (something that takes an extremely long time to grind out and complete) would be figuring out how to get to Guardian modules in Elite: Dangerous. I obviously didn’t do it alone – I had my best friend helping me along with community guides – but being able to work out how to do what I needed to do both taught me a lot and made me feel pretty proud, even if it is something of a routine achievement in that game.

Eliot Lefebvre (@Eliot_Lefebvre, blog): Much like Chris, I have mostly gotten my alpacas packed and my tacos stacked for FFXIV’s expansion, although I am still doing a little more prep. Unlike Chris, I will be playing the waiting game somewhat differently, primarily through some time in CoH and also sorting out a few last optional targets of opportunity in the single-player space. Like Hades II, for example.

Last big project I finished was, in fact, in FFXIV; I finished getting all of my Splendorous Tools set up. That was a big long grind, especially through Expert Crafts, but now it’s done! And they’re fun bragging rights rewards for the future.

Sam Kash (@thesamkash): I’ll be tending my plants and gathering loot for the recent update to Harry Potter Magic Awakened. The new update added a small zone with a handful of events. The story itself is pitifully short but there’s enough achievements to keep me busy. I haven’t had as much time to play MultiVersus as I want but it’s on the short list too.

Bonus: My most recent project was saving enough keys to unlock all the rewards for the player voted mystery wheel in HPMA. Kind of sad I know, recent project being a giant lock box, but I had been saving those keys since Christmas and to successfully unlock all the Malfoy gear was exactly the sort of thing I’d been after. A win is a win – RNG and all.

Tyler Edwards (blog): Feeling a bit directionless at the moment, but I seem to have washed up back in New World, so I guess that. I was also thinking of loading up The Secret World – it’s been a while.

Bonus question: I don’t tend to think in terms of “projects,” but I just got finished decorating my new house in Brimstone Sands in New World, so maybe that?
