The Daily Grind: Do you have an MMO lore friend?

However hard you might think it is to get good shots here, the answer is that it's harder.

I do not have an MMO lore friend. This is because I am the MMO lore friend. I am the friend who, when the new boss is announced to be Senor Boujoujou of the Lake Titicaca Island Baseball Team, is asked about why we’re fighting the Lake Titicaca Island Baseball Team in the first place. Because people know that I will be aware of the answer and can provide a solid overview of the deep lore behind Senor Boujoujou. I have no defense for the ways I have chosen to live my life on this planet.

Everyone has different levels of engagement with MMO lore, and that’s fine. This is not a problem for anyone. But sometimes you are not the friend who remembers all of the fine details of lore and such and you need someone else who does. So do you have an MMO lore friend? Do you have a chum who keeps track of the minutiae of game lore so you don’t have to? Or, like me, are you that friend for your usual crew?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
