Back in June, The Division 2 outlined plans for its sixth year of content updates, including “Seasons 2.0,” which would require players to roll seasonal characters in order to engage with the planned seasonal content. The reveal was met with wide disdain from players, and despite a follow-up FAQ that tried to further explain seasonal character mechanics, Ubisoft has instead decided to change course.
“We hear you and we want to assure you that we have carefully considered your feedback after the announcement of Seasons 2.0,” the statement from Ubisoft reads. “After thorough examination and discussions with the team, we have decided to re-evaluate Seasons 2.0 with particular attention to seasonal characters with the goal of progressing without them.”
The statement goes on to confirm that this shift in Seasons 2.0 strategy won’t delay the rest of Year 6’s release for later this fall, but it will force the devs to “assess the changes necessary to the new seasonal experience.” More information, including a follow-up livestream and some public testing, will be announced sometime later.
