Crimson Desert offers more details on its playable Gamescom demo

Last month Pearl Abyss declared Crimson Desert not dead with word of a playable demo of the “open-world action adventure” RPG at Gamescom 2024, simply stating that the game – which we presume still has some multiplayer-optional elements going by PA’s own comms – will be on the show floor. The developer has now followed up that news with a bit more information, and it looks as if this demo will have a perhaps unsurprising single-player focus.

“This year’s Crimson Desert demo highlights intense action-combat mechanics, featuring Kliff as the player character. The demo begins on a fierce battlefield with the Greymane mercenaries, where players will become familiar with the basics of attacking, blocking, dodging, and special skills while facing hordes of enemies. Seamless cutscenes between battles offer a glimpse into the story of Kliff and his fellow mercenaries.”

The demo will not only feature this battlefield scenario but will also transport players to an area where they can choose to fight one of four bosses, each promising distinctive attacks and unique locations. The presser also talks up the versatility of combat expression, with players able to utilize Kliff’s sword and shield, his bow, and different abilities and combos. Attendees who happen to be in Cologne, Germany during August 21st through the 25th can find the Crimson Desert booth at Hall 6 of the Entertainment Area.
