The Spell Brigade is a ‘hectic bullet-heaven’ multiplayer co-op title headed for early access September 16

If you’ve got three friends who all love the chaos of a bullet heaven shooter, then you probably already have the ingredients to enjoy The Spell Brigade, an in-development co-op multiplayer game from Belgian indie Bolt Blaster Games where wizards team up to mow down hordes of enemies.

The premise for this self-described “hectic bullet-heaven” game looks to be pretty simple: Players assemble a team of up to four players, fight through waves of enemies, complete randomly generated objectives, and generally attempt to survive the assault. The major catch is the fact that the game has friendly fire, so teams will have to watch their aim. Or at least try to.

Several mechanics will help players survive the masses of enemies, including the ability to improve spells by finding elements and upgrades, the ability to explosively revive teammates, and various ways for different selectable characters and spells to synergize for “pure unhinged chaos.”

The Spell Brigade will enter Steam early access on Monday, September 16th, which will run for a projected eight months in order to add new characters, spells, maps, and enemies according to the game’s Steam page. A trailer that showcases the madcap gameplay awaiting potential players awaits below.
