Soulframe discusses combat tweaks, dungeon updates, and a first pass at cosmetics for its next pre-alpha

The fantastical multiplayer RPG Soulframe is headed towards Prelude 6 – aka its next test build – which is cause for Digital Extremes to put together another video digest that shares some of the major features this next pre-alpha will introduce to those lucky enough to be tapped to play. Or unlucky enough, depending on one’s thoughts on playing an early build of a game.

The video effectively confirms that most of the features shown off during this year’s TennoCon, starting with the addition of Verminia and a first pass at the game’s cosmetics feature. As of right now, players can’t actually select their cosmetic look, instead relying on hitting a randomize button until a color combo that doesn’t look terrible pops up, but the feature, as well as the fight to unlock it, is coming.

Another update for the next build revolves around combat: Changes here include new animations for weapon swings, tech updates to lessen skating to enemies and stop enemies from ragdolling through the ground, and hit staggering for “grunt” enemies. Preludes 6 will also add some additions to dungeons, including optional puzzles to solve for extra rewards and notes found within dungeons to help guide players along.

Finally, the video answers questions from players, which confirms incoming new weapons including staffs, maces, and greatswords; shares plans for fast travel “when the game is big enough” to require it; and discusses the need to better showcase its multiplayer feature set. The devs also confirm that the game now has its own forums for those who have a Soulframe account.
