There’s an interesting, if lesser known, feature in Lord of the Rings Online that allows players to filter out unwanted sounds from the game. It’s a godsend to those who find certain screams or noises grating. And don’t most games have sounds that fall into that category for us too? I know I grit my teeth when I hear error noises again and again, mocking my inept gameplay.
Today, let’s talk about whether MMOs should allow us to easily filter out repeated sounds — and maybe if they should allow us to mod in sounds of our own?
