Lord of the Rings Online is still working on closed server transfers, believe it or not

Oh look at that: Hell is freezing over. That must mean that Lord of the Rings Online’s team is actually making progress on allowing transfers from closed legacy worlds after years and years of promising this would happen.

“Fun fact: [Wednesday’s] brief character transfer downtime was related to work being done as part of a bigger project to allow for character transfers from legacy worlds,” the CM reported. “The project isn’t dead! Just big enough and pitfall-prone enough that we’re not in a position to even hint at when or if it’ll happen.”

In the meanwhile, SSG said that the final Legacy of Morgoth test should be up and running sometime this weekend prior to the expansion’s launch early next month.

And just in case you wondered if the devs actually play the game, yes, yes they do you silly bear. “It’s cute that you think we don’t play our own game,” said Jeff Libby on the forums. “And it’s not just you, either — this comes up a lot. ‘If they just PLAYED the game, I would have nothing to complain about! It would be PERFECT!’ It’s my favorite game. My livelihood depends on it. Why wouldn’t I want to play it?”
