One of the many features applied in Pax Dei’s big saucy Proving Grounds update was an adjustment to crafting progression that would make it more “logical.” Apparently, some of that logic involved removing previously learned recipes from character journals according to confirmation from developer Mainframe Industries – a move that was partially intended.
The studio explains that when Proving Grounds went live, crafting progression was meant to adjust to reflect the update’s changes, but when character data was saved in preparation for the game-wide wipe, it only recorded the list of learned recipes, meaning that characters still had all of those recipes on hand even if they didn’t meet the new skill requirements. A hotfix from yesterday reconciled character data to what Mainframe calls its now rightful skill level, which in turn meant recipes were blinked out of player characters’ minds.
Mainframe confirmed that any items built prior to this hotfix will not be deleted, and regaining lost recipes should be faster thanks to improved progression, but it also concedes its error in applying these changes to crafting. “This issue was partially unintended as our initial goal was to preserve your character progression as much as possible, and we did not take into account properly the difference in crafting progression,” the studio writes. “We understand how frustrating it is to discover that you now need a higher level to access recipes you could previously use.”
Unfortunately, restitution for the mistake isn’t quite so easy: Mainframe contends that reverting to the previous progression would risk causing new issues and pushing crafting progress ahead to regain lost recipes would be too complex. However, a solution is being worked on and will be communicated once more testing has been done.
Meanwhile, the Proving Grounds release has now seen an update to Pax Dei’s content roadmap. The next verse (aka major patch) slated for winter will introduce a new compass feature along with market stalls, a gold economy, and friends lists, while the nebulous later segment of the roadmap confirms the new plan to add gear customization.
