The very first day of 2025 will bring on new content for Genshin Impact, as the shared world RPG plans to release Version 5.3: Incandescent Ode of Resurrection on that date with a new main story quest line, new characters, and a bunch of new events.

The next story quest continues the tale in Natlan as warriors from the realm prepare for the final battle against the forces of the Abyss. In terms of gameplay, this will involve two new boss fights for players to take on as well as the promise of their character’s ability to wield Pyro.

Three more characters will also join the roster in Update 5.3 in the form of the Pyro-powered Mavuika, who swings a claymore and a motorcycle around and can use said motorcycle for traversing the realm; the Cryo catalyst-using Citali, who summons shields and appears to be able to float short distances aboard a giant pillow; and Lan Yan, an Anemo catalyst user capable of dashing around with a shield and changing its elemental affinity with a special attack.

The new patch will kick off the Lantern Rite New Year’s festival in Liyue once again, which will introduce some new minigames like a puzzle game and a rhythm game. It’s all looking like a pretty active start to next year for Genshin enjoyers.
