No anti-cheat system is perfect, and some are arguably more imperfect than others, but for a competitive team shooter like Marvel Rivals, they’re pretty important to have regardless. Unfortunately, there were a number of players who were erroneously flagged as cheaters by the game’s system and subsequently banned, Fortunately, those players were restored to good standing.
According to one of the game’s community managers, the error in cheat detection came about when some players were using compatibility layer programs – aka apps that let gamers enjoy titles on different operating systems – that Rivals’ anti-cheat flagged as naughty. NetEase has since identified the cause, collected the list of affected players, and lifted the bans, all while apologizing profusely for the inconvenience. “We sincerely apologize for this situation and want to assure you that we do not and will not ban players who are playing fairly and without cheating,” the CM writes.
In other Rivals news, a tease for the shooter’s next set of heroes has been shared on Twitter with an image of the Fantastic Four. The concept art appears to reference the hero team’s older roots as they chill out in their bathtub-shaped flying car and even has H.E.R.B.I.E. from the old cartoon (and the upcoming film) riding along. A trailer with more details is promised on January 6th at 11:00 a.m. EST.
