EverQuest opens up its progression servers to everyone for a month

While Daybreak is about the most enthusiastic studio you’ll ever see when it comes to rolling out alternate ruleset servers for its MMORPGs, the studio’s always held to one hard rule: These shards are for subscribers only. Free players are not admitted, even on party business.

That’s changing this month, thanks to a decision to open up all of EverQuest’s time-locked progression servers to everyone. “Beginning today, we will be unlocking ALL TLP Servers (Except Lockjaw and Fippy, since they will be merging soon) to all of our customers through May 8th,” said the studio. “Come and discover again with your friends or make new ones!”

Some players were hoping that this open window would include the promised new progression servers, but the studio said that these won’t be arriving until “late spring/early summer.”

As if this didn’t already make things exciting enough, Stomples Day has returned to EverQuest this Easter weekend. Through April 13th, players can go on a special mission to investigate these rabbit-spawning eggs while enjoying a 50% boost to XP, faction, and rare drops.
