In news that will likely not be a surprise to anyone considering the number of real-life events that have been cancelled or transformed into digital events, Pokemon Go has confirmed that it’s Pokemon Go Fest 2020 will be a fully digital affair. The announcement also confirmed the event dates of July 25th and 26th and promised bonuses, Pokemon encounters, and Special Research for players among other surprises. More information is expected in the coming weeks on the event’s website and the Niantic Labs blog.
In other PoGo news, Niantic has announced a rollout of a new Reality Blending feature that’s adding some new AR interactions with your Buddy Pokemon.
“With Reality Blending, Pokémon will be able to move behind objects, either partially or completely. Watch your Pokémon peek at from behind a bookcase, or jump out from behind the couch!”
This feature is limited to specific mobile devices like the Samsung Galaxy S9, Samsung Galaxy S10, Google Pixel 3, and Google Pixel 4, so it will first be available for testing to a small number of random Trainers with those Android devices. Once the initial roll out is complete, more devices will be included so PoGo players can enjoy some semi-virtual time with their preferred pocket monster.
