So, who nommed the Fallout franchise when last we discussed which MMO or MMO adjacent title deserved its own movie or TV show? Because you were right on the money. Bethsoft announced today that Amazon Studios will be making a Prime Video series based in the post-apoc Fallout setting. If you’re cringing right now, thinking about how the modern Fallout 76 has missed its tonal marks compared to the original games, know that the production studio signed is Kilter Films, the company run by Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, now best known for their three years creating and helming the Westworld franchise. Here’s Nolan and Joy talking it up:
“Fallout is one of the greatest game series of all time. Each chapter of this insanely imaginative story has cost us countless hours we could have spent with family and friends. So we’re incredibly excited to partner with Todd Howard and the rest of the brilliant lunatics at Bethesda to bring this massive, subversive, and darkly funny universe to life with Amazon Studios.”
We looked at many ways to bring #Fallout to the screen and couldn’t be more excited to work with Jonathan Nolan, Lisa Joy and the team at #KilterFilms and @AmazonStudios. We’re huge fans of their work.https://t.co/QvbABKmpFo pic.twitter.com/reaEuYmcdv
