Today is the day where players of Grand Theft Auto Online can enter an island paradise and rob it blind. The Cayo Perico Heist is now available, bringing a variety of new challenges and rewards for players to take on.
As we’ve reported previously, this heist involves players infiltrating the private party island of drug lord El Rubio in what’s being called the game’s biggest heist yet. It all starts at the Music Locker and with Miguel Madrazo, who will involve players in a dispute between El Rubio and the Madrazo crime family to lead them into the heist.
The Cayo Perico Heist includes a variety of pre-prep work that players can elect to take on, though decisions on what to do or not do will have an effect on the heist’s outcome. As for the heist itself, there are multiple avenues for completion with varying methods of entry, weapons, air support, and escape. Repeat visits will also add valuable artifacts as they become available, while storage lockups and hidden stashes of cash and contraband can be found in varying places, meaning no two runs of the heist should be alike.
In addition, the new heist brings new music, new clothing lines, new vehicles, and new weapons. And least we forget, there’s also a submarine base that not only operates as a launching pad into the new heist but can be navigated around the shores of Southern San Andreas. It can even be used to find hidden caches on the ocean floor with an optional sonar station.
