For well over a year now, we have been concerned about the state of Saga of Lucimia’s development — namely, if it’s even happening any more at all. Back in March, hope for the hardcore MMORPG’s future was dimmed by the announcement that founders and project leads Timothy and Joseph Anderson had parted ways with Stormhaven Studios after apparently ending their work on the game last September. The remaining developers said they were “full steam ahead” on the game.
So has there been any positive development since then? Or any mentions whatsoever of this missing in action MMO? Well, while Stormhaven promised “many exciting announcements on the horizon” back in March, that must be one mighty long horizon because no such announcements have emerged — at least out in the open.
As far as we know, the game is still testing under a closed alpha state. On Saga of Lucimia’s Discord, a studio rep said in May, “We do not have a firm timeline on anything. We had hoped to bring you an update at the first of this month but that had to be pushed back for a number of reasons.”
In a June 1st post, the same studio rep replied with a similar statement, saying, “There are no public updates as of this time. We are working as diligently as we can to get updates out to everyone but there’s a lot of things that need to happen behind the scenes before we can do that. Every day we get closer to being able to share more but these things unfortunately take time. Things are still under active development and we still test on a weekly basis with our current alpha backers.”
