The Daily Grind: Are there any actually good MMO summer festivals?

I think we all know that MMO developers save their top-tier festival material for the one-two punch of Halloween and Christmas. And while that makes the latter part of the year exciting, the event fun tends to dry up during the summer months.

Oh, studios do their best to whip up summer festivals of all types — some involving fire, some weddings, and some beach parties. But are any of them actually, you know, good? I always feel so underwhelmed with summer holiday events in MMOs. Perhaps the only one that stirs me to participation is Star Trek Online’s Risa beach thing, and that because it’s an easy way to earn a free Tier 6 starship.

So I’ll toss this to you this morning: Are there any actually good, fun, and engaging MMO summer festivals?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
