Shards Online adds referral options and details player-run merchants

If you know the difference between this and your head, you're in a good place.

Have you wanted your friends to join you in Shards Online? You’ve got an extra tool for making that happen with the addition of the game’s referral system. If you share your referral link and someone pledges to support the game with that link, you’ll earn loyalty points that can be exchanged for items on official servers, meaning that you get both your friend in the game and exclusive stuff besides.

That doesn’t help much if you’re actually in the game, of course, but the newsletter announcing the referral program also includes details on the upcoming player-run merchants. These merchants are the first form of the game’s hireling system, serving as NPCs hired by the player to perform the task of selling things. In the future, you can even use these merchants to seek specific items for purchase from others; the first implementation of the system will just allow you to set prices, change the merchant’s appearance, and then get back to adventuring while said merchant handles all of the mercantile business.
