The bone that the schnauzer next door was playing with
When it occurred: About half an hour ago
Why I did it: If I can’t be happy, you stupid dog, neither can you.
The entire skeleton of William Carlos Williams
When it occurred: March of 2019
Why I did it: Forgive me
It was such a skeleton
So white
And so calcified
Half of the bones in Big Ron’s Big Museum Of Bones I Found
When it occurred: December 2015
Why I did it: You want to know why it happened, Big Ron? Because I’m bigger. That’s the truth, Ron. You want to be big. You’ve always had to be big. But guess what? A big man could protect his bones. I took all your bones and I threw them in the river, like they were trash. What are you going to do about it? Nothing. You’re weak, Ron. You have always been weak, and I’ve outgrown you. Put that in your bones and display them.
The Skull-Bone of Joy-Eater Snaz’rak
When it occurred: November 30th, 2023
Why I did it: This makes you crazy happy and Chris seemed like he was kinda down. I thought he’d be all like “hey, this is a swell bone” and I could be like “all yours, dude, wanna go get some bubble tea?” and he’d say “yes” and we’d go get bubble tea.
Michael G., nicknamed “Bones”
When it occurred: Couple hours ago.
Why I did it: It’s a game me and his mom play. What? Gotta have a hobby, what are you playing?
Bonus question: Did you learn any new skills over the course of 2023?
Andrew Ross (@dengarsw): It’s certainly an exercise weekend, but Splatoon 3 has a new season, and it starts with Big Run, and it’s a new king salmonid that’s a lot of fun, so it’s getting a workout too.
I’d been working on my novel writing skills (I vastly prefer short story), so while I’m no master, I feel like I’ve gotten better, particularly at mapping out a general curve beforehand. Short stories feel like they allow me to freestyle and reinforce the arc during my drafts, but novels are so clunky it feels like I need stronger bones right from the start.
Brianna Royce (@nbrianna, blog): Project Gorgon, although probably not much of it compared to the last few weeks. But that’s not because of it; it’s because it’s MOP award finalizing weekend, so I have lots of work to do!
I stepped up my watercolor game hard this year. I’m still not any good, but I know way more now!
Chris Neal (@wolfyseyes, blog): I’m sort of in a holding pattern in a lot of my gaming right now and this weekend I’m feeling some blues. So I’m probably going to unplug and primarily play the Super Mario RPG remaster for the most part. I need a moment.
I can’t say I’ve learned any new skills, honestly. That’s kind of about all I can say.
Eliot Lefebvre (@Eliot_Lefebvre, blog): My usual Final Fantasy XIV antics, a review to write, and just a general attempt to pump myself back up after a week that was truly exhausting and rough. This month is going to be really difficult, too, so I kinda have to look forward to that over December and January. Whee.
I’ve had to really focus back in on a lot of my skills over the past year for reasons that will be pretty obvious to anyone who has paid attention to my columns and the like, but my new job has also required me to really work on and hone my skills. One thing that I’ve really been enjoying learning? Decorating. I’ve been working really hard on making my apartment beautiful.
Sam Kash (@thesamkash): No big changes from me. Harry Potter Magic Awakened in the MMO department. Surprisingly enough, I’m actually still playing some Ascension, a deck building card game I wrote about sometime at the beginning of this year I think? There was one person that I matched with randomly and we just keep rematching each other. It’s very funny because I think we’ve only exchanged words once, yet round and round we go. It’s a fun time though.
Bonus: Skills you say? I learned how to make a decent matcha tea. That’s something, I think.
Tyler Edwards (blog): Still playing Redfall. Still have no idea why people hate it so much. The character I’m playing is aggressively Puerto Rican, and I’m learning so much about how to swear in Spanish.
