In its final dev blog of 2023, Victorian realm-hopping sandbox Nightingale hopes to end the year by “flexing” its creative projects and giving all of us a better visual idea of what these odd worlds will look like.
Some of the creatures that the studio whipped up for next year’s early access include stick-pooping Eotens, the insect-antelope hybrid Catepelose, and the grumpy Galumph. A decorative pier was shown off, as was a school of aquatic friends. If you look closely, you’ll also see a steampunk-style fishing rod being used to catch the latter.
“We added fish to the game,” said Inflexion Games. “Depending on where you see these new scaly friends, whether it be in oceans or lakes, the fish will correspond to its proper ecosystem. Meaning, saltwater fish will be found only in oceans and freshwater fish will be found in lakes. And, of course, with the addition of fish there must be a way to catch them. Yes, you can fish in Nightingale!”
