Osiris New Dawn has been one of the more puzzling development stories we’ve covered over the last few years, owing almost entirely to the fact that studio Fenix Fire launched the game into early access and then abruptly removed it from Steam without much explanation, consigning updates only to the official website and mostly hiding out in Discord as its Steam ratings understandably tanked. That all changed this past spring, when Fenix Fire rolled out its “enhanced expedition update” and apologized for the chaos – albeit it the Steam community forums where the casual passerby will never see it.
We’re getting yet another update this week. The new build on the game’s experimental branch introduces a lush new playable planet called Gemini for creative single-player mode, realism enhancements for space stations (including pressurization and oxygenation features), recipe balancing, improved creature aggro AI, and “multiplayer connection checks for a smoother and more reliable online experience.”
As a bonus, at some point between our last post in May and now, the game has returned to sale on Steam with mixed reviews, so presumably you can get your downloads through there again too. It’s like the past year just never happened, except that it did.
