The next season for Apex Legends – you know, the battle royale shooter that wanted to double-charge players for battle passes until fans furiously pushed back – is hoping that the gameplay features of its upcoming Shockwave season will be enough of a distraction from that kerfuffle, particularly as the FPS is bringing several updates that might change how fights play out.
One of the major tweaks to the shooter’s formula for this season is unlimited revivals until the end of round four in trios mode and straight shot mode, meaning that as long as one teammate stays alive, everyone else can get back up after being taken down. Another new wrinkle is the ability for players to dual-wield certain weapons like the P2020 and Mozambique. Last but not least is the Battle Sense mechanic, which projects a health bar and highlights around a target once it’s hit unless that target breaks line of sight.
Don’t feel like taking on others or want to hone in your skills? This season will also bring Bot Royale, which lets solo players or squads come together to fight in their own personal matches. The patch will also add a new map and the aforementioned double battle pass, though that won’t require cash only this time around. Unless EA and Respawn would like to try that little stunt again.
