Genshin Impact adds new main story quests and a new character on October 9

Genshin Impact is giving more of what players expect when its next content drop arrives on Wednesday, October 9th. That means a new character, new quests, and another absurd yet flowery patch name. Y’all should know the drill by now.

The Rainbow Destined to Burn update (yep) features more of the main storyline that brought players into Natlan to help the nation face a looming abyss and give the player character an ancient name because apparently the devs at Hoyoverse presumably took cues from The Neverending Story.

In addition to the new main story, there will be a new quest focused on Sumeru and a celebration of another character’s birthday, a new Geo-aspected character by the name of Xilonen (who will also feature prominently in the main story line), and several quality-of-life improvements for the Spiral Abyss, character ascension, artifacts, and echo cosmetics. And, naturally, this whole shebang comes with a splashy trailer full of anime seasoning that can be watched below.
