Sea of Thieves players were likely looking forward to getting sneaky and tricksy with the launch of Season 14: Making Mischief and its suite of stealth and deception-based features. Instead, what has released has been, by Rare Ltd’s own admission, a bug-loaded update.
Multiple issues are being raised by players that run a pretty wide swath including achievements not working, game crashes, missing ships and material crates, and oddities with new items like the grappling gun.
Production director Drew Stevens posted on the forums to share some confirmation of an upcoming hotfix scheduled for early this week that will address “high impact areas,” while things like ledge hanging and traps are temporarily disabled until major bugs can be fixed; an ETA for when those will return wasn’t shared, but Stevens promises they’ll be back as soon as possible.
“With a few hours of Live play now under our belt it’s clear that further issues have flown under our radar here and made their way to live,” he writes. “It’s been incredibly disappointing for the team to see issues with the new features surface so soon and just reinforces our need to focus in on improving quality.”
