The first patch for Lord of the Rings Online’s newest expansion arrived this past Wednesday. Update 42.1 unlocked the third tier of Legacy of Morgoth instances and kicked off the 12th season of the legendary items reward track (which will conclude on February 11, 2025).
The patch also continued to fiddle with the new — and somewhat controversial — Elf avatar revamp. “Elf appearance versioning has been added for 42.1,” SSG said. “If your Elf has already logged in, you will see no change. If you have not yet logged in any Elf characters, when you do login they will update with headpieces and other options to more closely match your old Elf appearance.”
Over in LOTRO’s sister game, Dungeons and Dragons Online dropped Update 70.1 this week as well. The main focus of this patch was to improve performance, especially on the new Cormyr 64-bit server, and speed up login time.
