It’s been almost three years since we heard anything out of Untamed Isles, a cute-looking creature capturing MMORPG from developer Phat Loot Studios that first entered our notice back in July 2022, but then it resurfaced with bad news in August of that same year, when the studio lost its funds thanks to crypto and had to force the game into an indefinite hiatus.
This week, the game has resurfaced and is reportedly headed back into development as the game’s rights have been bought up by Gen3 Games, a dev studio fully focused on blockchain games, NFTs, and Web3.
“Like many of you, we felt the heartbreak when it was paused, as we also saw the incredible potential the game holds. That’s why we’re dedicated to bringing it back to life in a way that stays true to its original vision, while also making sure the road ahead is both focused and achievable.”
Details on how this new studio will make Untamed Isles a success aren’t shared, but the dev blog does confirm that it’s adjusting the game’s scope while trying to “refine and prioritize the game’s core features” in a “sustainable” fashion, which sounds a bit like the game will be dropping its MMORPG aspirations. More details about a phased development approach and new features are promised soon, but it all reads as if we’ll have two new reasons to stop following along.
