Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen has boss fights. That’s probably not too surprising, considering MMORPGs do have bosses to battle. But have you ever wondered how Visionary Realms makes those boss fights happen? Then its latest dev diary is just for you. Congratulations on getting your wish granted.

The post breaks down how boss encounters are built across five general steps: Making the fight a story, creating a theme, designing special moves, putting it all together, and then entering testing and tuning. While the post does get pretty deep into how each step plays out, it also doesn’t get too bogged down in technical matters, with discussion mostly focusing on goals and design over nots-and-bolts outlines.

What does this all have to do with the Wildbloods POI due this month? Probably nothing, probably everything; in either case, fans of the early access sandbox now know how bosses come to be in Terminus.
