If you’ve been following the reactions, user reviews, and discussions around the team vs. team FPS Highguard, then you’re familiar that one of the most common complaints is that the game’s 3v3 setup is too small for the size of maps that teams battle on. It’s time to perhaps see if that really is the case, as this weekend only, WildLight Entertainment is experimenting with a 5v5 mode.
Basically this temporary game mode will work the same as 3v3, only raids will now have a total of 10 lives instead of six and respawns will be slightly longer in order to allow generators to be placed or defused. 5v5 will also not be replacing the original mode, just in case there are players who actually do like the smaller team size.
The patch that also added this temporary mode also introduced a new base to fight over known as the Soul Well, applied additional optimizations for things like animations and draw submission times for both PC and console, and added toggles for motion blur and anisotropic materials. Really, though, it’s mostly all about bigger team sizes.
