Come on down, The War of Genesis 4 – Spiral Genesis Online! You’re the latest contestant in the first annual MassivelyOP Awkward Game Title Awards. OK, not really, but TWOG4SGO is a real MMO and it boasts over 300 playable characters, according to Steparu.
If that number seems a bit outlandish, consider the game’s multi-character control system that allows for unique party setups, skills, formations, and hidden skill combos. Softmax Korea has announced a closed beta test, which begins on April 16th.
We’ve added some fresh trailers below.

Um wow wtf is this.

Hey, KICK ASS!
Someone who knows what Atlantica is!
looks good to me …. but come on, stupid names for MMOs is pretty much a requirement.
I mean, what kind of name is “Everquest”
Man, I remember loving the art for this series back in the day. I wonder if any of those games have been translated into English, officially or otherwise. .. to the Internet!
NemuiByakko KenAddeh Read my comment again. I never said it was anything like AO. I said this runs along the lines of what a bunch of people nattering away in a forum wanted AO to evolve into. As I can see it looks like a strange real-time hybrid battle system (like in FFXII/FFXIII).
Benthalak No, not like AO at all. AO = turn-based combat, 2 variety: “Disciples” style and “FFTactics” style. Here: active real-time combat “Granado Espada” style, totally different.
KenAddeh AO?? Is the combat turn-based in this game? No, it is real-time. So, nothing like AO again…
I really wanna like SoftMax – I remember learning about their “Magna Carta” series for PC/PS2 a few years before ATLUS actually brought “Tears of Blood” over to the West simply because of that artist of theirs. I mean, Hyung-Tae Kim just makes eye-catching stuff. Whether you like it not (because, let’s face it, he does go too far with stylizing them curvy ladies sometimes in titles like Blade & Soul), it’s really stunning and stands out. Unfortunately I’ve never played a Softmax developed game, so I don’t know if they’re good or not; people didn’t seem to care much for Magna Carta 1 on PS2 and MC2 on 360… but people do seem to really love Blade & Soul, so I’m hopeful that this one is cool too.
It really does look unique. Steparu says the series is basically the Japanese Final Fantasy, which is pretty notable, and the party system in an MMO seems really interesting. And of course, it’s just gorgeous; cool characters and Lost Odyssey-ish World Design. I hope this one is good… and if it is, then I hope it comes out over here someday ;)Â
Gonna be following this, unwieldy title and all, closely on Steparu’s site :D
this is weird. I mean the good kind of weird. This is what a whole bunch of us were hoping Atlantica would progress towards. Essentially, making an “Atlantica Online 2” with updated graphics, with different ways to use the 3D environment to make new formations, better boss encounters, etc.
If this becomes a big thing, it could draw away a lot of those players from AO’s somewhat outdated system.
Greaterdivinity Benthalak I would recommend not downloading from Steam. Their version is outdated and they never bothered to update it, so you pretty much have to re-download the whole thing. If you don’t care, I think the game is around 20GB minus patches.
