Darkfall dev clarifies ‘personal’ pre-Unholy Wars poll

A Darkfall developer recently caused a bit of a stir by posting an informal poll on Reddit that asked whether or not fans would be interested in the pre-Unholy Wars version of the fantasy sandbox. Axilmar has since clarified his intentions with a forum post that says his poll was a personal exercise done to satisfy his curiosity.

“Yes, we still are working on Darkfall Unholy Wars and don’t intend to stop,” he said. An economy/inventory patch is scheduled to go live in approximately three weeks “if there are no serious technical regressions.”

Belegorm Both games darkfall online (1.0) and Darkfall:Unholy wars have no working alignment system in place that’s the biggest issue with pvp players running rampant and no place for antipk pk groups to fix the mess xD hopefully they release a working alignment this year for unholy wars as the version in 1.0 was non sufficient

Did Ultimate online has some sort of safeguard system for nonpkers? or it just worked and player killing was not as rampant

They are so far behind the curve it’s ridiculous that they had such poll. The problem with Aventurine is they seem to think their game is worth the subscription. Take a poll on that, and be informed.

Belegorm This is the part where the rude pvper’s would call you a carebear.  After they ganked you and looted your corpse of course.  It is true though, the PvE elements of UO never meshed well with the PvP.  On one hand you had a system that was very open ended as to what you wanted your virtual MMO life to be, meeting and hanging out with fellow adventures, tradesmen, and merchants, and the other hand…Well you had gankers and “I oWneD U NOOB LOLOLOLOL”  It took a while for the latter to arrive in UO, but once they did, that was when they decided to make Felucca and Trammel.

That’s the curious case with UO. Those who enjoyed the PvE experience of UO the most were annoyed by the PvPers. While the PvPers were annoyed by the PVEers who would not come out to fight.

Belegorm But that is what sandbox games are selling themselves on. Open world PvP.

At this point I want people to stop equating UO and “sandboxes inspired by UO” with FFA PVP games.  Back in the day, you really think EVERYONE wanted to get out there and murder other people?  No!  The great majority wanted to go explore the world, be a tailer, kill PVE stuff, or whatever.

On a lighter note, at least the Darkfall emulator is still making great progress. Also we have Crowfall and Life is Feudal to fulfill the ‘original dream’ that died with DFO.
