WRUP: The Slowpoke Song edition

Slow.

The fact of the matter is that Pokémon has never been a big part of my life, so I’m even less capable of explaining why I’m unable to stop watching the Slowpoke song on repeat. It’s not some great narrative experience; the video is bland and the lyrics are just describing the fact that Slowpoke is slow. That’s its one note, that’s the deal. But it’s just so catchy. Bonus points: listen to it while playing with the video speed.

Where were we? Oh, right, it’s time for this week’s installment of What Are You Playing, in which we tell you what we’re up to over the weekend and you let us know what you’re doing down in the comments, otherwise you’ll never get to sit at the cool kids’ table. Don’t worry about being slow about it, though, that seems to be a thing this week.

Slowpoke.
Brianna Royce (@nbrianna, blog): I think I’ll log some Guild Wars 2 time this weekend. I had a weird dream about it last night where it went into beta and then got launched an hour later with no warning, which of course is not what is happening. But now I have this weird compulsion to play it. Conclusion, ArenaNet has infiltrated the dream state.

Eliot Lefebvre (@Eliot_Lefebvre, blog): Like we always do at this time, I’ll be in Final Fantasy XIV, and I’ll also be playing a fair bit of Mad Max. The review scores it’s gotten are a bit mediocre, but I think that’s unfair – it’s a solid game and it captures the feel it’s going for solidly.

Jef Reahard (@jefreahard): I’ll probably play a little bit of Star Wars: The Old Republic.

Justin Olivetti (@Sypster, blog): I’m racing to get my bounty hunter through the rest of Star Wars: The Old Republic and its expansions before Knights of the Fallen Empire hits. At my pace, I think it will be a close call. I’ve also got a new WildStar Medic to level, and I’m planning on crafting with her as well. And did I mention that I got the new Marvel Heroes Unbeatable Squirrel Girl outfit?

Larry Everett (@Shaddoe, blog): I have to see what the Imperial City is all about in The Elder Scrolls Online, but I also have a guild to run in Star Wars: The Old Republic, which needs events. I’m thinking we need to kill some commanders next week.

MJ Guthrie (@MJ_Guthrie, blog): There are still dinos on my wish list, so I’ll be trying to tame them in Ark: Survival Evolved. (Curse those devs for constantly adding more!! lol) Other than that I may be dabbling in the usuals: EverQuest II, H1Z1, Landmark, Marvel Heroes, and Grand Theft Auto Online.

Tina Lauro (@purpletinabeans): It’s my birthday on Saturday, so I’ll be able to game my little heart out in my free time his weekend with zero guilt! I’ll be working hard in GW2, putting some time into The Sims 4, and I may even log some more hours in World of Warcraft. Hooray for birthday gaming binges!

Patreon Donor thatchefdude: I will be digging deep into Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain; I barely touched it this week, so I’m going to get real creative with the stealth action sandbox and see what kind of crazy situations I can work up. I will probably spend quite a few hours playing my Conjurer and Scholar in FFXIV as well; I need to still get them to 50 for now (maybe 60 soon enough). Of course, I will be having a BBQ party at some point as well, so dark and heavy craft beer for all, and some slow-cooked smoked ribs…

Patreon Donor Jagmas (@jagmas, blog) Long weekend means lots of gaming and football! The bulk of my time will be spent in Star Wars: The Old Republic leveling my characters in anticipation of the upcoming expansion. There’s a chance I may play a little Mad Max, but I also need to check on my pets in Ark: Survival Evolved.

Your turn!
