Make My MMO: Infinity funds, Star Citizen teases 2.0 (November 21, 2015)

It was a huge week for crowdfunded space sims. First, Infinity: Battlescape met its $300,000 Kickstarter goal with over a day to spare. Then, Cloud Imperium released Star Citizen version 2.0 to a select group of testers. What’s 2.0? Only the first incarnation of the game’s expansive persistent universe! Sources indicate that vaporware trolls suddenly made themselves scarce both on MOP and across the intrawebs.

The rest of this week’s MMO crowdfunding roundup is just past the break.

LordOfBread GoJammit You didn’t set it right. You just added to it. Maybe I should have said don’t be one of those guys. Nothing says there can only be one.

GoJammit LordOfBread  “that guy” is already the guy below. Just setting the record straight, of who “ripped off” what.

Siphaed Smiggins 1)Except that they encouraged streamers and youtube videos allowing people to make up their own minds about what was out there.
2)Except this is always how they roll out their big patches. Small invites at first and then expanding to see how well it goes. It’s probably the smartest what to handle this sort of thing.

Koshelkin You mean the way ED ripped of the CQC? Or maybe the idea isn’t all that original. Yeah, I’m sure Elite thought up docking  and hyperdrive. You’re out of your mind.

SoMuchMass GoJammit Kheran Thaat’s my thinking. It’s got 5 manned turrets on it I think. It’s meant to move in probably with fighter cover and take out big ships while wardiing off people doing exactly what Kheran did.

GoJammit SoMuchMass Kheran Not sure the Retaliator seems week, it is a beautiful ship but I see many ships destroying it.  Maybe it is only effective with a full crew?

SoMuchMass Kheran Seems like that was a little too easy. Then again, he clearly wasn’t fighting back and how many missiles got launched? I think more than anything it accentuates why you don’t take multicrew ships out alone.
What you don’t see in this video is the game crashing immediately after this fight. Watching BadNewsBaron and a few others yeaterday, that seemed to be how long any of them could last. No doubt Kheran has memorized the route to his ship very well. at this point. They should redo the map before launch so that all these guys who can run to their ships blindfolded don’t have an unfair advantage. Haha!  Funny thing I hope they get fixed soon. Loving everything I’m seeing.
