Here’s how Star Citizen ship repair and maintenance works

123

One of the things that sets Star Citizen apart from the game industry at large is a virtual world design that provides players with options other than fighting. One such option is spaceship wrenching, which works in conjunction with the game’s detailed damage model to “create intuitive and engaging gameplay for players wishing to pursue a career in ship repair or for pilots to execute quick field repairs.”

In a new post on the game’s website, the maintenance minigame is broken down in detail, including bits about repair arms, component damage, repair roles, and more.

I’ve heard/read plenty of people who look forward to do this in the game. It doesn’t get in the way of fun because you can choose to do other things that you like better. The important thing is that people with different interests get different choices.

Absolutely. They’ve hinted that you could meet monsters and whatnot in old caves and ruins. I don’t expect Doom-like monsters in Star Citizen but maybe aliens (KrThak?) and NPCs gone mad. So expect to bring weapons when exploring unknown and mystic places.

Vikingr rioinsignia Derelict exploration could even have an aspect of horror to it as well (not necessarily alien type horror, but it is a distinct possibility)

Geoff Dassad LuanaFredris I personally don’t find it fun… But I like the idea as it will open up new roles for players in the game that naturally need to be filled.
And THAT is fun.

LuanaFredris Some people will find repairing fun, same as mining. Not everyone is going to find it fun, but some people will. Giving the option to do something and making it something that will take some effort and practice to get good at, IMO that’s the correct way to go, will I find it fun? Don’t know, but I do know some people  will find it fun, so I’ll support it.

And yet every time a new MMO comes out one of the biggest complaints is how weak the crafting system is. Yes people want something a little cooler and more I depth than a money transfer and magical hull repair.

Repairing ships doesn’t equal quality but potential equals a matter chance that gets in the way of fun. I doubt many people want to play arma in space.

Knowing that guy hes not gonna rate it at all, just call it a hoax and whatnot.
Or hes gonna take all the credit for the game actually coming out and being greet, and claim it was all due to hi pressuring them o finish the game.

I expect the first release of Star Citizen + Squadron 42 to receive at least 9/10. Probably 10/10 because of SQ 42. What game is better, in this genre? None.So they should give it 10/10. :)

Yes, the reactions to such reviews will be interesting to read. Not everyone will agree with the high score of course, and some (like DS) will give it 1/10 … or less. LOD!

Wild reviews as in “Star Citizen 11/10”?

While the game is shaping up to be great, I don’t expect anything like that though.
But would have been fun to see, especially the reaction to such a review.
