Betawatch: Eternal Crusade’s entry into early access (January 29th, 2016)

In the grim darkness of the future there's only oh really who cares any more.

In the grim darkness of the future, there is no more launch or beta or alpha testing, just early access for eternity. Fortunately, Eternal Crusade exists in the present, not the grim darkness of the future. It is in early access now, though, with a surprising new publisher in the form of Bandai-Namco. I think it can safely be said that none of us saw that one coming.

Other beta news? Just for you guys, because we’re such great friends.

So those are all of the titles with any sort of beta testing going on, and by that I of course mean that there are a lot of other titles in testing. We can barely keep track of them all! We’ve got a list for you just past the break, but if you notice something that we missed or a title that swapped phases without telling us, let us know down in the comments.

As always, we consider an MMO to be in open testing if it features free, public signups and will server wipe prior to launch. An MMO is marked in closed testing if it’s running a private test phase that cannot freely be accessed by the general public; it’s usually under NDA as well. Early access and crowdfunded MMOs whose tests we deem legitimate will be included. So-called “open beta” soft-launch MMOs with cash shops, no sign of launch in the west, or limited interest for our readers will not be listed; we also do not list expansions.

Actually, Starriser is canceled.

Paladins release CB Patch 13. notes:

A bunch of changes, some nerfs, some buffs, and a flying Evie now.

With the release of patch 2.1.2 today, Star Citizen is free to play for one week. Details below…

SmugglerinaYT I honestly wouldn’t be mad if something like that happened.

DasBenty There’ll be Orks and Eldar at launch.  Or that’s the plan at least.  Plus the MMO systems and everything are supposed to be coming in over the year before launch as well.

Oh, and ASTA (another webzen title) had its Open Beta delayed because the closed beta was so well received that they got a bigger budget and more time to polish the localization.

Riders of Icarus from Nexon & Webzen’s mobile version of MU Online.
Seriously guys, I learned about these betas from articles posted by MOP … How do you miss games that you guys posted about, this week?

I’m in it too.

It kinda came out of nowhere but Icarus started its Beta yesterday.

When they say early access for Warhammer, they mean it. Only about 90 minutes played so far but still many random bugs and stutter/lag issues, though the worst thing at the moment seems to be the campers in the tank things. But that said it is entertaining and I imagine at release it should be pretty good, especially if there’s orks….
