Black Desert’s most common hacking tool appears to be bundled with a keylogger

How dare you be dishonest back at me!

Vigilante justice rarely works out in the long run. Delivering pain to match pain just creates an unceasing, spiraling cycle. But with all of that philosophy said, it’s hard not to feel a certain satisfaction when it turns out that Black Desert‘s hackers are being hacked themselves. It turns out that the people unscrupulous enough to develop hacking tools are also unscrupulous enough to hack the people willing to use them. It’s a shocking revelation.

The reports are mostly based upon rumor and hearsay, of course, as very few forbidden hacking tools have customer service forums and the developers wouldn’t exactly be bragging about it. (In real life, taunting the cops is not considered an effective strategy to get away with things.) Still, it’s nice to think that someone who is in fact hacking will be hacked as a punishment. No word yet on whether or not the hackers hacking the hackers will themselves be hacked.

MilitiaMasterV Sounds like I need to quit my day job. Now if I can only find an outline on how to start up in this promising enterprise that doesn’t include a keylogger.

Reminds me of the old saying, “The young have no mercy because they haven’t lived long enough to require mercy” :-)

There is nothing new or surprising about this. Packaging keyloggers and other malware with game hacks is an old practice. It is an easy and targeted way to get people run .exe files on their machines. Unfortunately this will only hurt the inexperienced users who don’t know better. It will do very little to help the hacking problem in Black Desert.

Damonvile lazylex Estranged The people downloading the hack are selfish and shortsighted as noted below. The fact that it opens up innocent users to attack is bad — the people potentially affected may not even know what Black Desert Online is, or an MMORPG. I can’t see the majority of hackers caring about the rest of the people that it potentially harms.

And at the end of the day, hacks result in more dollars out of our pocket — whether it be from company’s increasing costs to cover additional support/security, direct withdrawal from compromised accounts, etc.
