WRUP: Resolving plotlines edition

Not what I'm traveling in, probably.

As many of you may know, I am the sole writer for What Are You Playing, which means that I’m responsible for coming up with all of the plotlines running through every installment of this column. Occasionally, someone asks me about the plotlines that seem to have been abandoned herein. The good news is that only some of them have been abandoned; the rest are just stupid. Here’s some information about them.

  • The plotline wherein Sandra buys a house and then finds out that it’s haunted was dropped when we could only find one haunted house, and the ghosts in question were actually pretty cool about the whole thing. All of the development that was supposed to go into her character there was rearranged to focus around a sexy lamp.
  • We have intentionally left the plotline about Eliot going to prison unresolved, and we’ll be wrapping that up just as soon as the next appeal goes through.
  • The plotline about the big KISS concert was abandoned because KISS is a stupid band. Also, we couldn’t get the rights to blow up their likenesses on a stage. Nor could we get the rights to actually blow them up. We tried.
  • Brian’s plot with the cursed amulet was a victim of the writer’s strike back in the day. Essentially, the writers went on strike, and that meant that I could do whatever I wanted, which involved Brian marrying alternate timeline Brian and never talking about the cursed amulet again. If we think of something cool to do with it, we’ll act like that was always the plan.
  • There was no plot with Michael, Dana, and the gelatin factory. We just had so much footage of that gelatin factory that we had to do something with it. Lord, when I think about the days spent in that gelatin factory, I tear up.

Anyway, that’s all of them; every other plot was stupid, especially the one you really liked. Let us know what you’re playing in the comments!

Andrew Ross (@dengarsw): I’ve just gotten back from Japan, celebrated my brother’s birthday with his friends, and got a wisdom tooth taken out in the past three days. In my moments of consciousness when I’m not trying to search for a job or get my writing handled, I’ll probably try to do some Pokemon Go to see what the Los Angeles County scene is like, get in some last minute time with the Overwatch Olympics event I only recently became fully aware of, and maybe try to do the second wing of Karazan in Hearthstone.

Brianna Royce (@nbrianna, blog): It’ll be Guild Wars 2 again for me. I’ve spent the week with the flu and am still getting owned in the lungs, but I can sit up and putter and grind in there for sure. Finished off my Ranger last weekend and tinkering on my Necro now!

Eliot Lefebvre (@Eliot_Lefebvre, blog): I’ve honestly been a bit behind on my weekly objectives in Final Fantasy XIV because I’ve been preparing for World of Warcraft finally getting an expansion soon. So I’ll be splitting my time there, then.

Justin Olivetti (@Sypster, blog): If RuneScape would ever let me log in, I might play that. Otherwise I’m afraid it’s some expansion chapters in Star Wars: The Old Republic and WoW invasions for me.
