The Daily Grind: What MMO would make a killer board game?

Well, sometimes it works.

On a master list of things I never expected to see, Riot Games making a board game even loosely based upon League of Legends would probably show up somewhere. I really wouldn’t have expected it to be something I was interested in, either, but co-op board games are something that my wife and I endlessly groove on. So my interest is piqued. But that also makes me think about what other games could adopt a board game spinoff.

Yes, I know there was a World of Warcraft board game, but why try to replicate the video game as a tabletop? Why not try something different? Why not have a Star Wars: The Old Republic board game in which you play as the various intelligence agencies, trying to infiltrate one another while avoiding notice from the Sith and Jedi alike? How about a game in The Secret World universe in which you play one of the four secret societies trying to contain knowledge about something supernatural? A deckbuilding game based on Guild Wars? What MMO do you think would make a killer board game?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
